Chocolate Pepper Eatten

Yesterday we ate the Chocolate Pepper and I’m happy to report that it was rather good.

Uncooked it tasted spicier then a red pepper. Not like a green pepper. Really a very unique taste on its own.

Cooked – surprisingly – it became sweeter then a red pepper.

While cooking though it took on some unusual coloring. I wish I took a picture. The rich chocolate color first turned to a weird yellow and purple color combination (yellow on the inside and a dull purple on the outside) and then eventually turned to a warmer brown color. In the middle there, I’d say the slices looked slightly like cooked caterpillars.

We cooked it with some onions, garlic, tomatoes and a red pepper, for an amazing topping on our bratwurst sandwiches. Yum Johnsonville. They know their stuff.
